Tour Group Players Receive Their Kit
Long months of hard graft, planning and fundraising for the SACS Waterpolo Tour to Hungary in January 2012, came to an end on Saturday when the players received their kit for the tour at the SACS Waterpolo Yearend braai. The occasion was well attended by players and parents, including the under 13, 14 and 15 teams.
The kit, partly sponsored by Civvio and New Balance, included a ski jacket, track suit, hoody, long sleeve T shirt, thermal vest, a back pack with wet and dry compartments, all packed in a branded kit bag with wheels. The players were delighted with their kit, all of which was aimed at enhancing the SACS brand as well as their experience, and hopefully their performance, overseas and for the remainder of 2012.
In thanking the committee headed by John Chapman for their hard work and commitment, both Chris Jones and Grant Rightford mentioned that the tour would be a life-changing experience for the players and would lay a solid foundation on which SACS waterpolo could build for the future. Both speakers felt that the outlook for waterpolo at SACS was very bright and that all the teams would benefit from this experience.
John Chapman confirmed that the three main fundraising events, namely the golf day, the action waterpolo day and the gala event had been extremely successful and had made the tour affordable despite the current deterioration in the Rand/Euro exchange rate. “For many this tour was just a pipe dream when it was first mooted earlier in the year. But with hard work, team spirit and enthusiasm it has now become a reality that the boys will cherish for the rest of their lives,” he said.
