Spread the news! The SACS Speck Pumps Winter Water polo academy is back for Term 3. Unfortunately, because of pool heating issues we have had to start a little later than usual this term, but there should be just enough time to squeak in 4 weeks, before most schools start their pre-season training in earnest.

Once again, we are open to girls and boys of all abilities, and will run 4 squads, each with 2 sessions a week. All sessions take place at the SACS High School Pool and last 1 hour.

There has been a slight adjustment of the times for this term to make allowances for different schools closing times, the new squad training times are:

Polo Sharks (u10 – u11) Tuesday 4pm – 5pm, Friday 2pm - 3pm

Polo Kidz – (u12 - u13) Monday 4pm - 5pm / Wednesday 4pm – 5pm

Young Guns – (u14 + u15) Tuesday 3:30-4:30pm, Friday 3pm – 4pm

Colts– (u16 + Open) Monday 3:15pm – 4:15pm + Wednesday 3:15pm – 4:15pm

Allowances for players to play ‘out’ of their age-group can be made by special request directly to me.

We understand that most Waterpolo players are still involved in winter sports and want to emphasise again that these school commitments must take priority over the Academy.

The cost for the 4 weeks this term will be R200 per player to cover the cost of equipment, electricity and coaching over this period.

Due to a serious deterioration in our pool covers over the school holidays, we have lost significant temperature in the pool water. At present the pool is swimmable, but still rather cold. This is already in the process of being remedied, as new covers have already been ordered and have been told by the suppliers that they will take a maximum of two weeks to deliver. In the mean time, all players who wish to bring along wetsuits to help with the cold are encouraged to do so!
